How I learned to love all that reading!

From the August 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Words ... words ... words!
Read. Read! Study. Ponder
pamphlets, lectures, periodicals, books—
sacred with the Word and Christ Science—
yet, oh how I rebelled, avoided.

Still, angels and reason kept on,
uplifting thought, preparing my heart,
until over that horizon of pages
dawned a realization!

Why, behind each word a meaning ...
what worth!
And spiritual meanings lead to ideas ...
most wonderful substance.
And these divine ideas unfold Truth ...
pure light beyond words
revealing God's ... God's ...
what words can I use? ...
His love which is life, reality, present good,
His nature as the true origin of man,
demonstrable.

Now this ceaseless flow of writing,
this precious sea of words—
GIFTS! GEMS!
Nourishment, refreshment, renewal; and
each time after wading in,
sometimes diving deeper than ever before,
with motives cleansed and vision cleared,
I am healed, always healed.

Words, words, inspired words—
I reread, restudy, reponder, rethank God.
How can I get enough
spiritual meaning, divine ideas, living Truth?
