Recently I looked up to see the striking sight of a flock of geese cutting across the sky. There was great beauty in their V-shaped formation, and I found myself contemplating the significance of their union.
Unity of spiritual purpose brings strength and safety to a movement—not only for the individuals involved but for the forwarding of that movement. Such a united front acts both as a cutting edge and a protective barrier against any onslaught. How natural, then, I reasoned, for church members to band together closely on their journey Spiritward.
As a new century approaches, more than ever we are called upon to form a solid, united front against a scientific materialism that would press its matter-based laws and beliefs upon the world at every opportunity. Mrs. Eddy's warning to us that Christian Science could once again be lost from the practice of religion, as it was after Christ Jesus' time, gives us renewed impetus and resolve to heed this call.
