Fellowship

From the June 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear member,
You and I look across from opposite
sides of the fence.
We see things from different places.
But there you are every Sunday,
at your post.
Every church meeting
you are present, giving, contributing.

Well, here we are, at one of those
church business meetings,
speaking out our differing opinions.
I treasure these differences more than a
thousand agreements.

For to hear you, I must be quiet.
To listen, my pride, my opinion,
my self-righteousness
must be stilled.

Your unique expression of the Father,
spoken here, at this meeting,
takes me back
to the books
to prayer
to humility.
Back, to receive this gift:
"Repent, consider your ways."
