At one time I was having heart problems. In addition, I was working full time plus caring for my home and family. I was weary and burdened because of the large amount of work I had to do. Nevertheless, I approached every task with this thought from Romans (11:36): "For of him [God], and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever." I tried to see that all the jobs I did were done of God's grace, through His strength and ability, and to His glory.
One day my mother gently told me that my father, who had also been hard-working and full of energy, had died of heart failure at the same age I was then, and that many in his family had had weak hearts. She begged me to take care and not do too much.
I went home and looked up the definition of heart in the Glossary of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (see p. 587). When I read the first two words—"Mortal feelings"—I realized that I did have some mortal feelings to put right.
