Sometimes in the middle of thinking about a whole community, the value of one enthusiastic reader of The Christian Science Monitor could almost be lost sight of. Here 's a portion of a letter that was received by The Christian Science Publishing Society that tells a great deal about what one person can do.
A few months ago as I was reading the Monitor and praying about the world problems that came to my attention, I decided that I would try to find a Monitor article each day that I could share with someone in my community.... I have always loved the one-to-one contact in sharing our paper. ... My motive was just to give, to share appropriate articles with individuals without any thought of selling or getting anything in return.
First, I left an article about a rabbi working with those not of his faith with the rabbi in our community. My next call was to the principal of our local high school with an article on education. Then I began to notice that many people in our metropolitan area were being quoted, so I decided to match up the people with their quotes. They were thrilled!
