Church Bulletin Board

From the June 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether at a shopping mall, on a college campus, or in the foyer of a church, a bulletin board is a great place for people to share information. You can learn a lot about an active community from reading local bulletin boards. We hope you'll enjoy this bulletin board and feel encouraged to join in and share experiences.

I won't forget a recent plane flight I was on. A passenger sat down next to me whom you would typically place in the "athletic" category. As it turned out, he was associated with a professional sport with which I used to be affiliated. So we started talking about sports. From all appearances he was leading a very glamorous life.

In the course of our conversation, he asked me what I currently did for a living. In all honesty I was bracing myself for the reaction I'd get after telling him I was a Christian Scientist who worked for my Church.
