My husband and I met as members of a Christian Science college organization, and we have had a long, wonderful experience of learning about Christian Science and seeing the blessings of trust and faith in God.
At one time we were threatened with what would have been a large financial loss. My husband had chosen to change his activity from business to the public practice of Christian Science. He left the business he owned in the hands of a manager who unfortunately mismanaged the company. We prayed persistently over a two-year period to understand that there can be no mistakes in the spiritual universe of Mind, God, Principle, and that no penalty can result from doing good. Then someone came up with a viable proposal to make use of part of the equipment. A new business gradually grew and prospered from this. After further prayer we were able to sell our share of the business in an unexpected way, and at a price that was more than our original investment.
Later, after our sons were grown and on their own, my husband took on some work for The Mother Church that kept us on the road all the time. We sold our house and stored our furnishings, not knowing how long the work would last. It turned out to be ten years. As we shared single room accommodations in motels and hotels, our prayers resulted in a greater understanding of the true sense of home. And I acknowledged all the time, in the words of Mrs. Eddy's poem "Christ My Refuge" (Poems, p. 13), "Father, where Thine own children are, / I love to be."
