Christianity and divine Science: the essentials of Christly writing

From the February 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you been thinking about writing for the Christian Science periodicals? Have you had a healing or spiritual insight you'd love to share with others? Do you have a notebook filled with article ideas or maybe a folder stuffed with rough drafts? Or have you sent in a few articles with little apparent success?

If you're new to writing, now is the time to begin. And if you've as yet been unsuccessful, don't give up! Writing for the periodicals is one of the most important avenues of spiritual growth that our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has established for members of The Mother Church. And it's one of the most important ways we can support the Cause of Christian Science and help bring the Comforter to the world.

There's so much one could say about writing for the periodicals—and so much to learn about what goes into a healing article—but two elements are essential: a deep and heartfelt Christianity and an absolute, divine Science. In Christian Science these two elements are inseparable, and in their unity we find the whole garment of Christly writing.
