Needed: more children

From the February 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I remember a time when I was about five years old and my family went to an Easter play produced at a local college. The portrayal of Christ Jesus was very persuasive.

The scene that I remember most clearly, interestingly enough, is not the one of Jesus' arrest and crucifixion. The scene that I can still see almost as if I were five years old again and sitting in that darkened college theater is the one where children has been brought to see Jesus, and his disciples turned them away.

The Bible says that when Jesus realized what the disciples had done, "he was much displeased." "Suffer the little children to come unto me," he said, "and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Mark 10:14. Jesus went on to say that those who don't receive the kingdom of God as a little child won't enter into God's kingdom.
