Healing through understanding the perfect law of Life

From the February 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In times of accident or serious illness, calling out to God can make a profound difference. And when behind the cry to God lies a conviction that God does help—and some understanding of why—healing and redemption follow.

The study and practice of Christian Science can nurture such conviction and understanding. Turning wholeheartedly to the divine source of all real existence, we draw into accord with the law of God, which heals and restores. Christian Science teaches that God is divine Life itself. God is also Spirit. Man's life is spiritual because it has its origin in divine Life, and man is the perfect reflection of this Life, this Spirit.

As we begin to glimpse the true nature of Life, we see the harmony of divine Life embracing existence in proportion to our ability to welcome that harmony through prayer and Christian practice. The law of Life that governs man as the spiritual expression of his creator supports all who strive to express their true selfhood as God's creation. The Bible says, "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life." Rev. 22:14.
