Church Bulletin Board

From the December 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether at a shopping mall, on a college campus, or in the foyer of a church, a bulletin board is a great place for people to share information. You can learn a lot about an active community from reading local bulletin boards. We hope you'll enjoy this bulletin board and feel encouraged to join in and share experiences.

From time to time we hear from Readers in Churches of Christ, Scientist. Readers are those who conduct weekly church services.

Serving as a Reader in a branch church has been rewarding and challenging. I am now somewhat amused to recall the reasons that argued against my considering serving in church in this way. How could anybody, I said to myself, who traveled in his business ... and who was about to change careers and start up a new business, possibly have time to be a Reader? Besides, I believed, a Reader should be someone who is greatly advanced in his spiritual understanding. ... That didn't sound much like me.
