It feel good when we're wearing a coat that fits well. But if it's too tight, we're uncomfortable; and if it's too loose, we're swamped. We need to feel right in our coat—and we usually care that it has the style and color that suit us and express something of our individuality.

People may recognize us by our coat if it's distinctive; but no one would ever confuse a coat with a person. Coats can be changed, but not the spiritual individuality of the person inside them.

Buildings are like coats in that we need them to keep us warm and dry. But we also need them to fit us! Their shape needs to be right for what's going on inside them. If they become too large or too small, we are uncomfortable because they no longer serve their purpose correctly. ...
