On giving—and sharing—a testimony

From the October 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of the first things to attract me to Christian Science was its practical nature, which enables everyone to demonstrate what he or she understands of God through studying it.

From the day I received a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and read the first few pages, I began to experience the difference prayer could make. In many small instances adjustments took place or situations were beautifully resolved in a way quite unplanned by me. Through a simple but wholehearted trust in God's power, I began to learn the truth of the statement from Science and Health "When man is governed by God, the ever-present Mind who understands all things, man knows that with God all things are possible."Science and Health, p. 180.

But that simple and wholehearted trust in God did not seem to extend to relating an experience of healing at a Wednesday testimony meeting! These meetings are held each week in Churches of Christ, Scientist, around the world and give those who attend an opportunity to tell of healings they have received through the study and practice of Christian Science.
