Sacrifice that moves us forward

From the October 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you ever sacrificed something you really loved because you knew it was best for others and the right thing to do?

That happened to a man I know. He had built a home for his family on a lovely piece of land in the north woods. His two children were born on the land and, though it was remote, he came to love the quiet, hard-working life he led there.

But it soon grew apparent that the children would be needing better educational opportunities and more frequent contact with other children. It also became apparent that, although his wife had bravely supported their adventure on the land, she would be much happier in a more populated setting. So with tears in his eyes, he and his family left their home and land and moved to a bustling city, one hundred miles south.
