Overcoming doubt and delay

From the April 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Doubt is an element of most delayed healing. The doubt may be about God: "Can He heal me? Is He willing to heal me?" Or the doubt may be more personal: "Do I have enough faith to be healed? Do I know enough?" Left to feed on itself, doubt may take on a life of its own and look like a mountainous obstacle to healing. It may even cause disbelief in the vitality of Christian Science to heal.

Doubt needs to be exposed for what it really is—a questioning of God's very existence and of man's ability to feel and trust in His care.

Trying to push our doubts aside through a blind or unreasoned faith in God is not a dependable way of overcoming the uncertainties and fears we may be having. What's needed is an experience-based understanding of God's actuality and our own inherent spirituality.
