Having heard some of the attempts to discredit prayer in the case of young children, I would like to submit some personal experiences of effective reliance on prayer for the care of children.
One morning, after a severe windstorm shattered a glass door, my young son cut his finger on the broken panels. I was in another room at the time. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Momma, where are your books?" my son asked. When I came out, I saw what had happened. The extent of the injury was severe.
I cleaned the hand, bandaged the finger, took the child on my lap, and began to pray and to read to him some passages from the Bible and Science and Health. He slept peacefully that night, and the next morning only a tiny red line where the flesh had joined together was visible. This soon disappeared, as well. It was a complete healing.
