Leaving the old, welcoming the new

From the December 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

She told her family she didn't want to be there; the new house and new community were just not the same as the old ones.

It was clear from the girl's comments that change, even when it's progressive, isn't always what we expect. The girl's father had been praying for many months about the steps he would need to take to progress in his work. His prayers for growth were not just for his development alone; they were all-inclusive.

This man wanted to see the widespread benefits of learning more about God and man, not only as the result of prayer but through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. He truly wanted to see God, divine Love, governing everyone's progress, and not merely the push and pull of human will, with its potential to be unwise.
