"Love's divine adventure"

From the December 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many of us tend to be wary of "adventure." The word itself can imply a hazardous undertaking with an unknown outcome. A military or financial adventure, for example, can be perilous.

Yet in all of her published works, the one time Mrs. Eddy uses the word, she makes it glow with joy. On the day of the laying of the cornerstone of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in her hometown of Concord, New Hampshire, Mrs. Eddy announced, "We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 158.

Surely this kind of adventure is risk-free, and its ultimate outcome certain. It's an entirely spiritual experience, in which we find that God, perfect Love, is always victorious. Through the years I've felt an inner comfort from knowing that I'm included in this divine adventure. I've enjoyed witnessing to the fact that Love's allness can fully resolve any discordant situation or condition into one of order and harmony. I often find myself saying, "Father, I'm loving to see how You're going to work this difficulty out because I can't see any solution."
