I had always heard that taking Primary class instruction in Christian Science is a beneficial experience. But my growing interest was thwarted by the fact that here in the eastern part of Germany Christian Science had been prohibited for decades. The door to religious freedom finally opened wide November 3, 1989, and I applied to study with an authorized teacher of Christian Science. To my great joy I was accepted.
My desire for class instruction was born of my desire to gain an ever-increasing understanding of God and to know how to apply His laws of harmony to life's problems. I was not thinking just of myself but also of people needing help, searching to understand God and gain inner peace. Initial concerns as to whether I could do justice to the demands of class instruction vanished with the understanding that, since He comes first in my life, omnipotent God is guiding me. I have stood the test.
I'd like to relate a healing that is the result of the spiritual understanding I gained from class instruction. One day I was suddenly incapacitated with a severe pain and immobility in my hip joint. I was not able to sit, stand, walk, or lie down without feeling a piercing pain. I tried not to allow any room for fear in my consciousness. I knew that only through obedience to God, Spirit, or divine Mind, could I perceive and comprehend the grace of God for which I yearned. I began to read Science and Health and to do some intensive studying with the Concordance to it. I also did some studying in her other works.
