Twenty-nine years ago I...

From the February 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Twenty-nine years ago I found Christian Science after many years of searching and studying various religions. It has been the greatest blessing in my life, for which I am deeply grateful. On New Year's morning, 1992, I woke feeling very ill with the flu. I called a Christian Science practitioner for healing through prayer, but I continued to grow increasingly ill.

A few days later, the telephone by my bed rang, and I stood up to answer it. When I turned to get back into bed, my legs became paralyzed and I fell to the floor. I was unable to get up, and then I knew I had to solve this problem on my own, as I could not even reach the telephone. I asked God to reveal to me more of the truth of my spiritual perfection.

I declared in prayer that God is All-in-all and that I was with Him; that I was His perfect spiritual idea and that He loved me. I pondered the Lord's Prayer, the twenty-third Psalm, and many statements from Science and Health. I began to feel God's presence right there with me—I knew that inspired thought would guide me to think and to do what was right at that time.
