Poems

Purity

From the January 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Can it be true
The temptations I once knew
No longer call to me?
Was I not stirred
By tender thought and word
To seek Love's purity?

To see, and freely choose,
God's perfect way.
Courageously to challenge
Day by day
The claims of error,
Waiting to defile.
Contend for Truth,
And find through that defense
The child of God,
Who dwells in innocence.

There is no turning back
To ways outgrown,
For Love divine
Is calling to its own;
And joy and gladness
Fill my heart today,
For those pure thoughts from Love
Are here to stay.
