Most of the time, when a friend calls out, "Where are you?" you have no difficulty replying, "Down here in the kitchen" or "Out here on the porch." But have you ever had the experience of waking up in a strange place, totally disoriented and not knowing where you were? For a few moments, until you are more completely awake, you know you are someplace—but you can't remember where!
One day I began thinking about the question posed in the title of this article. Where was my "here"? I could see that, from a metaphysical standpoint, asking myself, "Where do I think I am right now?" was the same thing as asking, "What is my bedrock concept of reality?"
Paul had no trouble answering that question. The book of Acts tells us he said, speaking of God, "In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28.
