"Give it and it will make its way. You don't have to do more than to know this." This simple encouragement from a friend helped one individual drop a sense of personal responsibility for sharing Science and Health. Previously, this woman had never found it easy to introduce Christian Science to others or share the textbook for fear that it might offend or that the book might be put aside unread. However, with the above statement in mind, she writes, "One day I sent a copy of our textbook to a co-worker who was scheduled for an operation . When it was back on my desk the following Monday with an appreciative note, I was tempted to think 'Well this time it didn't make its way.' However, the next day another co-worker came to me and asked, 'You know; the book you loaned Helen? Do you suppose I could read it sometime?' Could she! Her very own copy was on her desk that very afternoon. So it did make its way, and I never hesitated from that time forth to offer that 'cup of cold water' we're urged to give (Science and Health, p. 570)."
LEADING THOUGHT INTO THE 21ST CENTURY
Many of us have seen how simply opening our hearts to sharing Science and Health and letting the book lead the way silence fears such as "Should I or shouldn't I? Will this person read it? What if he or she is offended?" We'd love for you to send your experiences of sharing Science and Health to the Office of the Publisher of the Writings of Mary Baker Eddy; One Norway Street, P-711; Boston, MA 02115-3122 U.S.A.
