The continuity of God, God's message, and you

From the November 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Two summers ago I spent a short time helping to excavate an archaeological site in the southwestern United States. As I worked, I found myself thinking more and more about the fact that, throughout history, Christ, Truth, continuously communicates itself. It is the same divine Truth that spoke to the Bible's Moses, to Ruth, John, and Paul, and that also speaks to each of us today. Think of what this means. Christ, Truth, the healing power of God, has existed forever—for all eternity, in fact.

If we're confronted with a problem that seems tenacious, it's important to realize that the Christ, God's message of perfect creation, of health and joy, manifests itself to humanity universally and impartially. When someone listens to this message, his or her thought changes for the better. The fear of sickness is destroyed. The temptation to sin dissolves. When a person's thought is transformed by Christ, Truth, this way, the person's experience is affected too. Sickness, injury, disability, and sin are healed. Human needs are met. Christ, Truth, has always been present and available to help mankind.

If you are a parent who wonders if you and your son or daughter will ever again be able to speak to one another civilly, if you are praying about an impasse preventing peace between two warring countries, or if praying for a friend or loved one who hungers to feel God's loving, healing presence, there is tremendous comfort in the knowledge that Christ, Truth, continuously communicates itself in just the way that is most needed.
