Every mother hopes to see her child happy and safe. I am so grateful for an understanding of God as Father and Mother, as I have learned through studying Christian Science. In Science and Health we read, "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit" (p. 63). While my children were young, I was supported many times in knowing that God was always caring for His children.
When my youngest daughter was living several states away, I received word she had disappeared. Supposedly she was with a young man who had stolen a car.
In my distress, I was led to pray for mothers the world over who were suffering from the loss of their children. Striving to understand God as the one divine Parent, I gained a surety of His nearness, His care, and His protection. I knew that no child of God's creation could ever be separated from divine guidance and love. Sometimes I felt grief-stricken and guilty, but each time I turned resolutely to God for the truth, I found a peace beyond description. I knew I could trust my daughter to God's care.
