"Will you sign my application for membership?"

Does your heart leap at the opportunity to help someone apply for membership in The Mother Church?

In the Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy gives every member this privilege: "Only members of The Mother Church are qualified to approve for membership individuals who are known to them to be Christians, and faithful, loyal students of the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Art. VI, Sect. 2).

If you'd like to have some application forms to share, please write or call:
Clerk

Tel: (617) 450-2000

Admission of members takes place in June and November. New applications should reach the Clerk by May 15 or October 15.

A continuing invitation to write

Do you have an article in mind? Some spiritual insight you've been wanting to share? Writing and contributing metaphysical articles is an important avenue of spiritual growth; a way to grow individually and to help others. If you would like to submit articles or poetry for the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald—or religious articles for The Home Forum page of the Monitor—the Editors would love to receive them.

The periodicals depend on articles contributed by members of The Mother Church, and we are always interested in fresh inspiration and its practical healing results, written in lively, contemporary style. Testimonies are invited from members as well as those who haven't yet joined The Mother Church. Seasonal material should reach us at least six months prior to the target date. A few guidelines may help you and can be obtained by writing to:

Notice for travelers/visitors

Travelers wishing to attend a Thanksgiving Day service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, may want to check with the church or its Reading Room in advance regarding the hour of service. Many churches are now holding the Thanksgiving service at a time different from their Sunday service.

Ways in which you can give

Members and friends often ask how they can contribute to the needs of The Mother Church —in addition to the annual per capita tax and ongoing donations —both now and in the future.

The Gift Services staff of the Treasurer's Office can help you learn more about different types of gift arrangements including Life Income Gifts, current gifts of appreciated assets (such as securities or real estate), or gifts created through your will. A professional Gift Services Officer is available to work with you to determine the most beneficial type of gift, based on your objectives and today's tax laws.

Generally, tax benefits are available only to United States taxpayers. However, we are ready to assist anyone interested in making a gift to The Mother Church.
