I could write a book about...

From the November 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I could write a book about all the blessings received from studying Christian Science, but here are just a few.

In 1929 a friend introduced my mother to Christian Science. That winter my mother became seriously ill, and a doctor said she must be taken to the hospital because she had double pneumonia; he didn't think she would live until they got her there. I was crying uncontrollably as they carried her out on a stretcher. I was only four at the time, and very frightened.

My mother asked my dad to call a Christian Science practitioner. You can imagine our great joy the next day when we learned that my mother had been healed on the way to the hospital, the result of the prayers of the practitioner. The doctors acknowledged the healing was due to prayer, as they had done nothing for her at the hospital. When she came home, I realized something wonderful had come into my life, through a new understanding of God.
