In 1986 I completed graduate studies in a teachers' training college. I did not know where to begin to find a good job. As a student I had already held a teaching position in a community school, but that was not considered a job, and the salary was—as it still is now—next to nothing.
Then I decided I would consecrate one year to serving God before I made any plans to find a job. I became a member of the Christian Science Society in Kinshasa-Kalamu. I was already a member of The Mother Church.
The executive board appointed me to be the librarian and the Reading Room attendant. I accepted because that was an opportunity I had given myself to serve my God.
