The Christian Science Sunday School: a light on the path of youth

From the November 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Education means by its derivation a "leading out." Real education isn't a process of cramming facts into the minds of pupils but a drawing forth of their natural capacities. As someone has said, "A student is not a vessel to be filled, but a lamp to be lit."

Thus the teacher, in whatever field of education, is a most vital contributor in the learning process. And the Christian Science Sunday School teacher stands in the front ranks of the world's teachers, for he or she guides pupils to the recognition of spiritual truths that lead them out of merely human perceptions of existence into the understanding of God and His perfect likeness, man.

The Christian Science Sunday School is a vital arm of the Church of Christ, Scientist. It embraces and encourages the children of the world, assuring them of God's love and care and of His guidance.
