For wounded hearts and reaching hands: a diary

From the March 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Last year Sandy Mathiesen, a member of Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Washington, D.C., kept notes as she and fellow members prepared to give a Christian Science lecture in a nearby neighborhood. Together they listened, cared, and responded to basic human needs, and found their voice welcomed in the community. We asked Sandy to share her notes—as a diary from the heart.

July 31 Talked about a fall lecture. We're part of a city with problems, big problems. We care about this city and its people. Deep inside we know the only solutions are spiritual. That's what we want to share with our neighbors.
