A letter from a Sunday School teacher

From the August 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During Sunday School I asked the students in my class what the Sunday School could do to make "church" more enjoyable for them. I asked this because we have heard it said that we are going to lose the "young" people because we are not keeping up with the times—that we are not making church exciting enough to attract them. Well, their answer was very thoughtful. They said they would like to see more healing, that's all! I asked if any of them thought they would leave Christian Science, and the reply was, "How can you leave it?" This was a very precious answer. I am sure their parents would love to hear this! These young people felt it was just part of their lives. I also asked if they thought they would want their children to go to the Christian Science Sunday School. "Oh, yes, of course," was the reply.

Recently, a former student (who was healed of drinking and smoking while she was in my class and then joined The Mother Church) wrote me a Christmas card that said in part ". . . keep the spiritual material coming—I need it. You don't know how much I use my Sentinels!" I send little inspirational "tidbits" to her once in a while, and also sent a subscription to the Christian Science Sentinel. She reads the Bible Lesson and articles from the Sentinel to a friend.
