Poems

Peace

From the August 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The peace, the peace
is so worth the struggle
against futile human reasoning.

Besieged by worldly ideals,
I searched for morality, clarity,
hardly expecting joy, much less bliss,
as final reward.

The long battle,
the parrying with self,
is now but a fading dream.
God is found
and sensuality lost.

Freedom is truly mine,
and, yes, unspeakable, tangible
bliss.

The shackles of sense broken, dispelled,
I soar with Christ, Truth,
in Love's blessed
peace.
