Notice from the Clerk of The Mother Church

International inspirational meetings

From the August 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Clerk's Office has received a number of inquiries from church members regarding holding international inspirational meetings. On the whole, such international meetings are not encouraged. Before organizing meetings, members would want to give a careful reading to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, especially Article XXIII, Sections 1, 3, and 10, and Article XIII, Section 3Mrs. Eddy also speaks of meetings in the closing of a letter to students on page 156 in Miscellaneous Writings.

The current Field meetings dedicated to our Leader's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures were called for by the Clerk of The Mother Church under Article XIII, Section 3. Mrs. Eddy, through the Church Manual, provides a number of other means for Christian Scientists to meet together for their own strengthening, such as branch church services and activities, class instruction and yearly association meetings.
