The little robin

From the August 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Off I went to work one day.
Opportunity came for me to pray.
A little robin was at my feet,
fallen to the ground from nearby tree.

Lying still, its eyes were closed.
Had it lost its life? I responded "No!"
I refused to see it in this way,
and then and there began to pray.
Divine Science says it is God, Life,
who preserves identity of animals
as well as of men.See Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health 550:5-7 .Life, I knew, was then surely God's plan.

I laid it in my cap that day,
then home I went to further pray,
convinced this little bird at my side
in God's great love did wholly abide.
It wasn't long before it opened its eyes.
And soon it moved and flew away,
healing complete for that happy day.

No, the bird had had no diagnosis;
but what was ill, now soared free and well—
proof that all respond to the sweet, sure message
of healing Truth that we have to tell.
