Disease statistics—or the power of divine law?

From the March 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The use of statistics to measure the thinking and reactions of the population is big business today. Polls that gather such statistical information can be useful, especially to businesses and political candidates. But what about using statistics to determine what proportion of the country's population will supposedly come down with certain dreaded diseases? Such predictions strike fear into many innocent people who don't know how to counter them mentally and who fear they may come down with the disease.

Is there any remedy to counteract this influence and to help us prove that man is not a victim but has dominion? Yes, there is. It is Christian Science—the Science of healing. Mary Baker Eddy discovered this Science and gave it to the world in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Through her deep research of the Bible, Mrs. Eddy discovered the divine law of Love that Christ Jesus utilized in his healing work. She came to understand that Jesus' power to heal was not supernatural but completely natural; otherwise he could not have taught others to heal. She saw that man's real individuality is entirely spiritual and perfect, forever safe in God's care, and that this truth underlay Jesus' works.
