Safe, happy, and new! (for children, and everyone)

From the April 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If you peer through a window tinted red or blue,
Your cat just won't look her natural white;
It certainly appears as if she's changed
Into a different color before your sight.

This game never alarms you, though,
For you know she's not really red or blue,
And moving to a clear windowpane,
You see what has always actually been true!

Likewise, mortal mind may try to tell us
About illness, loss, hurt, or fear—
But God's child is spiritual, complete, and well,
Because His love is ever near.

Trouble, which looks fearful to mortal sense,
Is not the truth of our real being;
Through spiritual sense we always know
Only the perfection God is seeing.

We don't change our cat back again to white;
We know which color has always been true.
We're God's beloved child, untouched by harm—
That's the absolute truth about me and you!

When we look through a clear "windowpane"
There is nothing that can spoil our view.
Yes, clear thoughts of God's loving goodness
Make our days safe, happy, and new!
