As reported earlier (The Christian Science Monitor, December 6 and 8, 1995; Christian Science Sentinel, January 8 and 15, 1996; The Christian Science Journal, February 1996) a symposium entitled "Spirituality & Healing in Medicine," sponsored by Harvard Medical School and The Mind/Body Medical Institute of Deaconess Hospital, was held in Boston last December. The Christian Science Board of Directors, several members of the Board of Lectureship, and other officers and colleagues from the Christian Science Church attended the three-day conference. Afterward, they met to compare notes, share their impressions and experiences, and discuss what was learned. Following are excerpts from their conversation.
Virginia Harris: As the Board of Directors examined what we witnessed at the "Spirituality & Healing in Medicine" symposium, we thought it would be timely to gather those from the Church who attended the conference to share their observations. As Dr. Herbert Benson's introduction of my talk indicated, he's had a relationship with this Church for twenty-five years. He is a very patient man.
