"I make all things new"

From the May 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"God, I'm willing. Make me new." My heartfelt prayer went up from the depths of my soul. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Nothing meant anything to me except the essential need to know, to really understand, the purpose of my being.

At such times, when material means and human hopes have failed us, we arrive at a point of decision. We have a choice. We can continue to plow along in desperation—uninspired, restless, and struggling with frustrating conditions and circumstances. Or, realizing we have come to this point, stripped of human pride, pretensions, and plans, we can be willing to give up futile attempts at control and turn everything over to God. And I mean everything. You won't be disappointed. But you had better hold on to your seat! Because you have signed up for a lifetime of adventure.

When God, the one true power of the universe, says "I make all things new,"  Rev. 21:5. believe it! Ask Him to change your life and deep down mean it. Such prayer is always effective. The challenge is really to listen, to get self-centered desires out of the way, and to be flexible—willing to adapt to the steps prayer reveals and to obey the unfoldment.
