Stolen goods restored after an inspiring lecture

From the October 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Ryde, Australia, had been in the public eye for some weeks prior to a lecture we held some time ago. We had invited the community, including the mayor, to an open house for our newly renovated Reading Room.

A few days before our lecture, though the Reading Room remained untouched, a break-in occurred in our Sunday School and boardroom. Books, maps, and Sunday School property were taken. The membership was steadfastly praying to know that we could only be blessed and could not suffer any penalty by sharing Christian Science with our fellowman.

Our lecture was wonderful. It included many healings covering various human situations and needs. The lecturer was aware of our experience, and he shared a healing about a theft. He said that a woman who had her property taken realized that she needed to stop believing that there was a mortal man who was capable of theft. She had to stop "stealing" the integrity of man within her own thought by thinking of man as a sinner. Instead, she started to focus on the facts of man as God's likeness. This change of thought brought the return of her goods.
