Church

From the April 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The spiritual idea of Church
Extends beyond walls, doctrine, and creed,
With its message simple, pure, and sweet,
Reassuring, restoring, and healing.

Seeking the meaning of Church,
I was welcomed at a Christian Science service.
Shy at first, but finding love there,
I felt comfort, hope, then healing.

The true structure of Church was dawning before me:
Founded on the rock of Truth and Love;
Not made with hands, as I once thought, but
Forever encircling me, embracing all, and healing.

The mission and activity of Church
Are working for mankind—
Blessing, enriching, enabling all to see
God is Life, infinite Love, ever present...
And healing!
