Fruitage report from an airport Reading Room in San Francisco

From the September 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Friends:

The following fruitage is a compilation of experiences of individual attendants who serve in the Christian Science Reading Room at the San Francisco airport.

A friendly young man from Asia came in to look around. He asked many questions about Christian Science, and so we had quite a discussion on spiritual healing. He is a second-year medical student. He was surprised to hear that, being raised in Christian Science, I had never been to a doctor. I assured him that we do not dislike doctors, but that we find Christian Science, or the Science of Christ, both preventive and curative. And that there is a substantial record of healing to be found in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, and in other Christian Science literature. Testimonies show that many people have turned to Christian Science when they have been given up by doctors. Shortly after our conversation he left, to return one hour later. He then mentioned that he had spent hundreds of dollars, and had been thoroughly examined by doctors, with no success in finding the cause of his distress. He bought a copy of Science and Health and DeWitt John's book, The Christian Science Way of Life. I told him that Christian Science could help him, and pointed to the many testimonies of healing in the back of the textbook.
