Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896—a healing impact

From the September 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My husband and I were spending a few days in an isolated place near the ocean. There were opportunities to walk along the shore and in the woods.

We devoted a lot of our time to reading. I completed a fresh reading of Miscellaneous Writings, a book of articles and talks by Mary Baker Eddy published one hundred years ago, which the author considered to be of great importance to students of Christian Science. This rereading had quite an impact on me.

I'd always had some concept that God loves me—loves everyone. But Miscellaneous Writings gave me something beyond that. It filled my being with joy and a deepened feeling of God's love. This feeling remains with me.
