Letters

From the November 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I cannot find the words to express the feelings I have for The Christian Science Journal, which I have been getting for three years. I look forward to every issue, and having received it, leave all my engagements until I have read right through it. It gives me real pleasure.

I live in Moscow, where we have had a Christian Science group for the past five years. When I began attending services, everything was unclear to me because religious study had been prohibited in Russia for so long. Now things are better, and we have the freedom to study the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Through reading the Christian Science literature I am learning English—although, to tell you the truth, it is not good!—but I understand everything you write in the Journal.

When I ask myself, "What has changed since you began to study Science and Health?" I cannot easily answer the question, because my whole life has changed. But I think I can say that the most important change has been in my attitude toward life and people. For example, instead of constantly criticizing others, I am trying to see them as the perfect sons and daughters of God. I pray regularly, and I am surprised how fast my problems are solved. Instead of worrying about my finances, my social status, or even the weather, I find reason to be glad about everything. It is with gratitude that I accept what God gives to us.
