In the fall of 1998, I was operating a large front-end loader. The engine had just been overhauled and seemed to be working fine. But when I was driving on a rocky road, the engine burst into flames. A torch of fire came up through the floorboards and filled the cab where I was. I have operated heavy equipment for over twenty years, and I have never witnessed anything like this.
The panic and amazement, however, did not stop me from repeatedly hearing this calm, clear thought from God. "It's OK, Cheryl, I am more powerful." I was on fire, and I remember climbing up and out of the only window opening and jumping over the moving tires.
I have no recollection of a fall. Someone found me on the ground and took me to the hospital emergency room. Physically, I could not help myself one bit. I was hooked up to an IV and a catheter, since I couldn't even walk to the bathroom. Humanly I was in and out of consciousness, but spiritually I was absolutely conscious. Keenly do I remember praying and being very thankful for all the patience and sincerity around me.
