Before I discovered Christian Science, I was a medical nurse. I dutifully took my children to the doctor for their checkups, but rarely gave them medicine. However, at one point our son was being treated for an infection in one ear. When his other ear also began hurting, I had an awakening. I realized this medicine had no real effect. I poured out the prescription, and declared that I knew God was caring for him. Our son was quickly healed, and never had another ear-ache. Shortly thereafter I found myself attending the Church of Christ, Scientist, and I enrolled our children in the Sunday School.
The blessings and healings our family has had since finding Christian Science—nearly twenty years ago—are boundless. Our son's mouth was considered too small for the normal number of teeth. Oral surgery was recommended to remove two of his permanent teeth in order to leave room for the remaining teeth. Instead, through prayer, the teeth loosened and came out effortlessly.
With the help of prayers from a Christian Science practitioner, our daughter had a healing within twenty-four hours of corneal abrasions from over-wearing her contact lenses. She also had a very quick healing of a sprained ankle while performing in a dance production, and was able to complete all the performances. My husband was healed of a tobacco habit of many years' duration without any withdrawal symptoms, and has never smoked since.
