Trusting God brings religious and physical freedom

Translated from German

From the July 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I became acquainted with Christian Science through my wife's family, and we made it the foundation of our life. After about four years, I was healed of the supposedly incurable results of a war injury. I gave a testimony about this quite some time ago in The Herald of Christian Science.

I refused
to teach dialectical
materialism.

At that time, we were still living in the German Democratic Republic (GDR), where Christian Science was prohibited. Consequently, we were unable to become members of The Mother Church or of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. We were, however, still able to attend church in West Berlin and take our children along to Sunday School. But even then, it was already foreseeable that this border, too, would one day close. Moreover, as a teacher I was being placed under increasing pressure to teach along the lines of dialectical materialism, which I categorically refused to do.
