Whatever happened to that man?

From the July 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

You know, the "one" out of ten who returned
to give thanks to Christ Jesus
for restoring his flesh, pure and clean and intact;
absolutely free of cruel illusion called leprosy.
Ever wonder what that man thought when he was healed?

"Is this a dream—
or, was that nightmare ever real?
Jesus knows I'm a Samaritan, yet there was no prejudice!
'Go shew yourselves unto the priests,' he told all of us.
Yet why did I turn back when the others kept walking?
We were all equally, completely, restored to health.
All felt the power of God's love.
We'll tell friends and family of this event forever!

"Will the priests really believe? Do I understand?
Is thanking Jesus enough—or must I be more like him?
Running gladly, speaking loudly, I glorified God!
Kneeling with unblemished thought and body, I prayed.
Jesus felt my repentance, saw the redemption, and declared
Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.'
—So I am well."
