From the January 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It Doesn't Take the beginning of a new year for us to appreciate the concept of newness, or a fresh start, and the promise it brings. Yet at this time of year it's natural to think in those terms and to consider the possibilities that lie ahead.

Our cover article this month, "Spiritual vision and the new century," presents a deeply meaningful basis for looking ahead and for resolving even the biggest problems that face humanity. And "The healing power of reverence" reminds us of an essential for more fully realizing the possibilities for healing as we go forward. These and other articles show us that we can begin at any moment to cultivate a higher view of creator and creation, and find genuine, lasting solutions, which come from a spiritual perspective.

A message of this and every issue of the Journal is that clearer views of timeless, spiritual existence help move us out of the ruts of time-bound material thinking, with its ills, and ahead with steadiness and increasing dominion.
