LETTERS

From the January 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

No partiality

With the world's increased interest in healing through prayer, I am grateful that you included in the July Journal's "Reports of Healing" a testimony from a woman who had experienced healing before she came into a "fuller understanding of God's law in Christian Science." I can also testify to having had such healing. By publishing that item, you have assured faithful seekers that God's healing power is available to all and that He shows no partiality.

Peace

As I thumbed through my July Journal, I was delighted to find St. Francis of Assisi's most beloved of prayers, which begins "Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace." In every age, men and women of great spirituality have brought light, vision, and wisdom to our world. St. Francis was one of these great givers. I loved reading his prayer and being reminded that divine Love, through the receptive heart, speaks in every age—even in those that seem most darkened to human sense. St. Francis' prayer is beautiful. Thank you for printing it.

Artwork

Looking at the August 1999 Journal, I found myself admiring the beautiful artwork facing some of the articles, such as on pages 6, 12, and 16. Then I found myself wondering who created these beautiful paintings, and I had to turn back to the table of contents to find out. Have you thought of placing their names right on the same page?

Editor's note: We did consider putting credits next to the images. However, we have chosen to let the images stand on their own, simply supporting the ideas in the articles. This has been acceptable to the artists and photographers, many of whom are Journal readers.

Creativity

I am writer in the midst of writing a novel. I was in need of inspiration for the work when the September Journal arrived. It was like pouring water on a sponge. The articles about creativity were just what I needed. I started reading the Journal the minute it arrived, and I haven't stopped. For me, as a writer and a quilter, the line "All real ideas are spiritual and have their origin in Mind" in the first article is perfect. I had been working along these lines, but that article, "A whole new phase of creativity," provided exactly the boost I needed. The September 1999 issue is a "keeper."

I have been a subscriber to the Journal for many years, and the new format is very refreshing. Thank you for the many inspiring articles I find every month.

The Journal invites readers to engage in a lively exchange with one another regarding the ideas presented in its pages. Please send your comments and questions. Letters should include the writer's full name, address, and telephone number, and be addressed to:
