Samuel Solivan, Ph.D., is vice president for religious affairs at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. He is on the faculty of the Harvard conferences on spirituality and healing in medicine, and will be speaking on the spiritual healing practices of Hispanic Pentecostals at this month's course in Denver, Colorado (March 19-21).
Professor Solivan enriches his talks with personal experiences of healing, and told recently of a time in his life when a medical examination revealed that he had a potentially threatening heart condition.
"I Was Afraid," he said, "and from the moment I left the hospital I prayed. I reflected deeply on my life and God's role in it. I didn't share the outcome of the tests with my wife. I was too fearful. But I continued in prayer long after my wife had gone to sleep.
